Mindful Sociology

Starting over the summer, I tried practicing parts of Buddhism. One huge part of Buddhism is meditation. My favorite meditation is staring at your meal before you eat it. You think about every possible thing that had to happen for that exact moment to exist. You have to try it to believe it, but the food taste so much better. Although that is a very cool way to meditate and be mindful of things, life in America moves way to fast to stop and think about every single moment. However, if you think about a couple moments a day, your day might be better as you will get more out of it. Right now, think about everything that had to happen for you to be sitting at a computer reading a blog that I wrote. I have to agree with the theory that if you are mindful, you will live a better life and leave a mark on the world after you die.

  1. I love meditation. every night before i go to bed i sit and clear my mind, it helps me sleep way better because my mind isn't full of random thoughts and tangents. your so right that in our society people just want things to be faster and better. people running through the halls, being impatient, and just rushing through life.

  2. Meditation helps reduce my anxiety like crazy. I always feel like so much is going on that I forget to think about how my day was and how I got to where I was. We all get too caught up in life that we forget to take a step back and look at things. Thanks for sharing this (: (and I really like the music you have on your mix)

  3. Sorry to comment again but I just listened to more of the songs on there and they are amazing (just got into Four Year Strong and that Day to Remember song is great and Taking Back Sunday is one of my favorite bands)

  4. That's really cool, I've never heard anyone do that before. I think I'm going to try and stare at my food at lunch today and see how that goes.
